Baba Siddique, a well-known leader, was brutally murdered outside his son’s office in Bandra. His close ties with Bollywood and rumours of underworld links have left everyone shocked. Was it a deadly revenge or something more dangerous? The mystery deepens, and the question remains: Who killed Baba Siddique?

What happened to Baba Siddique

On 12 October, Saturday evening, former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, aged 66, was shot dead in Mumbai’s Bandra East. This shocking incident left everyone stunned. Just a day after his death, jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the murder. According to Bishnoi, Siddique was killed due to his close connection with Bollywood star Salman Khan. However, there seems to be more to the story than just this.

Baba Siddique’s Closeness with Bollywood

Baba Siddique was more than just a politician. He had strong connections in Bollywood, particularly with big names like Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan. One of his most famous moments was during his annual Iftar party, where he mediated and restored the relationship between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.

Siddique’s bond with Salman Khan allegedly became the reason for his death. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi had a long-standing grudge against Salman Khan because of the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The Bishnoi community, to which Lawrence belongs, considers blackbucks sacred. Bishnoi had repeatedly threatened anyone close to Salman, which might have made Siddique a target.

Who is Raju? The Key Confession

The mystery took an even darker turn when a man named Raju, who had been injured in a police encounter and admitted to Mathura’s District Hospital, made a startling confession.

“The Lawrence Bishnoi gang is bigger than anyone can imagine,” Raju said from his hospital bed.

He claimed, “Baba Siddique was not a good man. He had charges against him under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). People said he had links with Dawood Ibrahim, the mastermind of the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts.”

Raju also revealed how criminals now use modern technology for planning. “With mobile phones, the internet, and Google, we can easily find information about people,” Raju said. He denied direct contact in a Delhi murder case, claiming he communicated only through his friends.

Raju also blamed the police for pushing him into a life of crime. “I am a poor man, and I’ve been falsely accused,” he said. He admitted being part of the Hashim Baba gang, which is closely linked with Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang.

Who Killed Baba Siddique? Was It Only About Bollywood or More?

While Bishnoi’s confession grabbed headlines, there are other theories about why Siddique was killed. Some people believe his murder wasn’t just about his relationship with Salman Khan. Rumours suggest that real estate disputes might have been involved.

Mumbai’s real estate sector, especially in areas like Bandra and Kurla, has been known for violent disputes. It’s been reported that Siddique was involved in a controversial slum rehabilitation project. A powerful real estate developer had interests in the same area, and Siddique’s opposition may have played a role in his murder.

Bishnoi vs. Salman Khan: A Long-Standing Grudge

Lawrence Bishnoi has been vocal about his intentions against Salman Khan for years. In April 2024, shots were fired near Salman’s residence in Bandra West, and two men were arrested. The police connected this attack to Bishnoi’s gang. Bishnoi had earlier planned to target Salman in 2018, but the plot was foiled.

“Some believe that Baba Siddique’s murder wasn’t solely due to his relationship with Salman Khan. Speculations suggest that real estate disputes and Siddique’s political shifting might also have been factors.”

This ongoing grudge might explain why Siddique, as one of Salman’s close friends, became a target. Bishnoi’s anger toward Salman has put the actor’s life at risk several times, but this time, it led to the tragic death of Siddique.

Baba Siddique’s Political shifting

In February 2024, Baba Siddique surprised many by switching from Congress to Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which is part of the NDA alliance. This move came at a time when Siddique was reportedly under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Income Tax Department. Some speculated that Siddique’s switch to the NCP was an attempt to protect himself from these investigations.

This political shift shocked many in Mumbai, particularly Congress supporters, and raised concerns within the Muslim voter base, which traditionally doesn’t favour the BJP. Siddique’s sudden death has now created more confusion in Maharashtra’s political scene.

A Call for Justice

Baba Siddique’s murder has deeply affected Bollywood, Mumbai’s real estate sector, and Maharashtra’s political landscape. Many opposition leaders, including NCP’s Sharad Pawar, criticized the government for failing to maintain law and order.

Sharad Pawar said, “This government has lost the right to stay in power.” He demanded justice for Siddique and called for a thorough investigation.

Mumbai’s Dark Past: The Underworld’s Era

“Mumbai has a long history of underworld influence, especially in real estate and Bollywood.”

In the 1990s, the city was infamous for gang-related murders over real estate deals and film industry disputes. Who can forget the tragic murder of music icon and cassette king Gulshan Kumar, a crime directly linked to the underworld? Siddique’s murder, just a few kilometres from the financial hub Bandra Kurla Complex, has raised fears that this violence might be making a comeback.

The Unanswered Questions

Baba Siddique’s murder has left many unanswered questions. Was it solely his connection to Salman Khan that made him a target? Or were real estate disputes and political factors also involved? As the investigation continues, the true reason behind Siddique’s murder remains unclear.

One thing is certain: Who killed Baba Siddique and why are questions that must be answered to restore peace in Mumbai.
